While your computer's standing idle, why not put it to an interesting use? Berkeley University in the United States are analysing radio signals from space in the search for intelligent life, and they can use the processing power of home computers.
If you download a file from Seti (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) your computer will start to analyse it after it has not been in use for a few minutes, and show a fascinating screen saver. It will return its findings to Berkeley's computer when you are on the internet. You can even join a Billy Fury group, and each unit that your computer completes will be credited to the group's record. Click here to sign up - and don't forget to join the Billy Fury group. Please note that the active group is the one named simply "Billy Fury" and not the one named "Billy Fury fans" |
