Reply to Harry re photo saving problem

Postby stratobuddy » Sun Aug 22, 2010 11:15 pm

Harry said (Re the problem I raised about saving photos from "my" webpage) - -

As for the pictures on Alan's page, I'm not sure what the problem is. As far as I can see, you can right-click on them and "save-as". Are there other issues involved?

In fact, when I try it, a box appears that says - -

Message from webpage

Don't do that

Sorry, that function is disabled

There is no "SAVE AS" to click on!

It seems that you do not get this message, Harry. Does anyone else?

Here is the link again - -

My son has provided an answer - - - -

The webmaster has made a half-hearted attempt to protect the photos.

He has written some javascript to disable right-click actions.

But his script only works in Internet Explorer. You can probably find a setting to disable javascript then you will be able to download them.

Or just use another browser. I normally use Firefox anyway, and here you are free to download them.

I went into Mozilla Firefox and then I was able to download them :)

I wish I understood more about this :(

Although I worked with computers for many years, it was all using mainframes, or else embedded chips for real-time control systems. I retired before PC's were coming into vogue, and before t'interweb too (as they say where you are Dean :)

...and you switch to Opera?

..or switch to page source, get the name of the file, and retrieve it from your internet cache.
