Steve, you have the same problem as me. I can't remember lyrics anymore. I have them in front of me and no one seems to mind as long as they can enjoy the evening. At worse you may miss a line but they don't mind!! I play a guitar... nothing special, just a few chords, and they forget about the music stand. You'll be great!!

Hi Steve,

People can be surprisingly forgiving of a bit of nervousness if they're interested in what you're doing, especially if they can tell you're enthusiastic about your work and they're nice too. It sounds like you've got some good people behind you, including over here on the message board, so I hope it goes well for you.

It's not the same as you singers and musicians, but I was terrified the first time I had to do a talk at a conference, as half the audience was well-known people whose books I'd read, it was really intimidating at the time, but they were so interested in a new face that I survived (not that it was life-threatening anyway...!!) It's easy to be your own worst critic sometimes.
